I have a huge backlog of pictures and some text to add to the site that will not go up immediately.

The good news is that I will soon be done my studies at UBC and have a little more time to dedicate to my web projects.

So you may look forward to a bit more content here in the near future.

If you don't have the patience to wait for me there is an entry for the Ambassadors in drumcorpswiki.com, a sort of Wikipedia for drum and bugle corps.

I am busy changing old links to point to this or preferably, chnaging them to relative links. I'll be working to fix the bad links for a while but here it is for now.

Spymac.com is shutting down its free web hosting service so a few images will disappear in the new future.

I have them saved at my end so you will see them again when I get re-organized.

I hope to be able to make up for this after the switch to my high-speed account occurs.

I am moving to a high speed account and my web hosting account is thus moving as well.

I will have more information about the new address of the Ambassador web site soon.

I expect to keep the current site up until at least the end oof January 2006.

This blog will be at the same location (as it is hosted by Blogger) so you can bookmark it and find the new link for the Ambassador home page here when it is ready, or you can keep an eye on the Ambassador page on DrumCorpsWiki ( http://www.drumcorpswiki.com/index.php/Ambassadors%2C_Newmarket ) which I will update.

There are some changes coming up for the site, but they will happen gradually.

In anticipation of a possible move to a new internet provider, I am experimenting with setting up the Ambassador pages at a free web site host:

If I do indeed switch to a highspeed provider and I am happy with hostdepartment.com, this may be the website's new home.

If there should be any confusion about where the site is, have a look at the Ambassador entry in www.drumscorpswiki.com . I will keep the links there up to date.

There will of course be warnings on the pages at the old site before the change is permanent.

The related blogs will stay at blogspot.com

There is now a site map. I'll work on it a bit more. I wound up using a different tool than I linked to below but then I did a lot of editing so I am not sure I saved myself any time.

At any rate the whole procedure helped me fix a lot of bad links.

I am cleaning up various pages on the site as in the process of making a site map, I have discovered a lot of bad links. :P The Ambassabear News in particular needs some work. This will take me a while and hopefully will not be noticeable to the (very small) viewing public.

Some changes to the Corps Links page :

I have corrected some of the FURL lists.

I have finally done away with the football field background graphic of which I was so fond.

I accidentally deleted the link when I was doing the above update and it was so much more readable that I couldn't find it in me to set it back again. Happy reading!

Yesterday I was informed of a problem that I have anticipated for some time:

I have now started uploading graphics for the Ambassador site to my space on spymac.com. As it is a free account I am not sure how long it will last. I am keeping my own copies of everything so nothing will be lost if this new account is suddenly unavailable.

I have added scores for the 1981 DCI championships A class prelims and finals to the 1981 scrapbook. These scores are from the corpsreps database.

I will see if I can dig up some scores for Provincials and Nationals in 1981. Corpsreps doesn't have them yet. I guess I will submit them if I find them.

I have updated page 4 of the 1983 yearbook with a link to a scanned image of the Ambassadors' percussion execution sheet for Nationals. This was sent to me a looong time ago by a helpful person who I think I wrote back to... at any rate I will look them up in my e-mail and give them proper credit.

I have also updated the format of this particular page as part of my very slow campaign to update all the pages.

Update: I just noticed that this document confirms the date of Nationals in '83 as August 27, 1983. Bonus.

I have updated the 1977 Yearbook with full scores from '77 Nationals. I have finally figured out that the Provincials scores preceeding them on the page were not the prelims scores (duh). I have also changed the format of the page slightly to conform with the new template I am slowly applying to the whole site.

My scanner is working again! To celebrate I have scanned a newspaper photo of the 1982 snare line published in the Newmarket Era and added it to the 1982 scrapbook.

I have added a new category for additional information about the Ambassadors in the links page. I have redone the links page in tables as well. I may revisit the background graphic in the future as it makes things hard to read but it stays for now.

The 1980 Scrapbook has been updated with some information about the 1980 US tour to Chicago and Franklin Park Park. I found this information in some programs from the US shows and from the Banner article already posted in the '80 scrapbook. Unfortunately we were all too busy to record scores for the three(?) shows we did on tour. I do remember we tended to be dead last in placement so perhaps we didn't care about scores so much.

At one of these shows the Ambassadors became acquainted with the term "unit tick", which under the old tick judging system was a means of taking off a whole point at one stroke rather than a tenth of a point that a "tick" usually reperesented. A unit tick was not generally a sign of a strong performance to put it mildly.

The Corps Links page has been redesigned to display the drum corps links I have recorded on my Furl account. This should let me automate weeding out dead lnks and adding new ones.

I have added to the scores for DCI Canada in the 1980 scrapbook. There is more to come as I plan to add information about the shows we did on the Chicago tour that year. Unfortunately I have no scores for those shows.

More scores added thanks to Corpsreps.com. I have updated the 1982 yearbook page with scores for the DCI world championships in Montreal and the Canadian National Championships in Brantford, ON.

Not a bad year although we didn't win any championships and only managed to beat the Kavies once in North Tonawanda. Still, 19 out of 43 at DCI is pretty good. Who knew there were so many New York and Massachusetts corps in '82?

I have finally added the scores for the 1983 National Championships to the 1983 yearbook page (4). I discovered this omission while writing about the 1983 "incident" (scroll up after clicking the link) at Provincials that year. The scores are from Corpsreps.com rather than my own records. I will confirm them with my documentation when I get a chance. Corpsreps.com also has scores for the "C" class prelims which I will add to the 1983 pages later.

I have also retired the homepage counter. I will replace it with something that works when I feel motivated.

I have added a Creative Commons note to the Ambassadors homepage. This is just to make things easier for people who would like to use content from the Ambassadors site without contacting me. Follow the links to see the conditions that apply. If you need more than this for your project you can, of course, still contact me about it.

The home page has been updated. I have finally changed it to a table-style format. I hope to clean up the terrible HTML that's in there at some point but for now it's a bit more up-to-date and readable. Long ago in 2002, Michael Marcotte labouriously scanned the pages of the 1986 Out of the Blue corps yearbook and e-mailed them to me. I thanked him and promptly miss-filed them. At long last I have dredged them up from my hard drive and placed it on the site. The scans may be a bit hard to read in places but you can get most of it. I may enhance things in my creaky version of photoshop if I ever get the time. But for now, enjoy!
